One day we decided that we were going to go see the Phu Kham Cave and the Blue Lagoon because we had to stay one more night to catch a bus. So the tree of us rented bikes because it was only 7km outside of the city. We read online that there were many fake caves along the way and make sure you go to the correct one. It turns out that the road that goes to the cave is also used by all the villagers to walk their cows around and with a recent rain that made it pretty muddy. Riding the bikes on it was a challenge for a bit but it eventually dried out and turned into hills with big holes and large rocks. We stopped and talked to a man with a little restaurant along the way where we bought some water. He reminded us that we needed to make sure that we went to the right cave and gave us exact directions. Along the way we came across a couple little boys about 2 & 3 that ran towards us holding out their hands seemingly wanting high fives. We then found out that they try to pull us off our bikes and I guess take our money. So we peddled away as fast as we could. Eventually we made it to the correct cave and it cost us about 10000 kip to get in.
Once in we decided to go explore the cave first and then we would cool off in the lagoon.
Super steep but not to long hike up into the cave mouth. Once inside it was super open in there and got dark pretty fast.
A little ways in there was a Golden Buddha with a bunch of offerings around it.
After walking around for a while we found a big will where people wrote their names in with mud. of course we had to as well. I couldnt find enough mud and it was really hot in the cave so i just put my initials.
After exploring a bit more we went outside and went for a swim in the Blue Lagoon. The water was actually really blue and there were fish inside that swam around with you. Above there was a big tree with a rope swing, bench, and a high branch to jump off of.
Obviously I jumped off it and was eventually able to convince one of the girls I went with to jump as well. The water in the lagoon was super deep and really refreshing.
