First off this is the bus that I took from Hue to get to Hoi An. I wasn't too worried because the ride from Hue is only 4 hours. Either way that is packing tape holding the bus together.
Once I got there it was stating to get dark, on the way down to the river I met up with the people from Coquitlam that I met in Laos. They have lots of lanterns hanging around everywhere which makes the city really nice at night.
Hoi An is mainly known for its tailoring shops. There are what seems like a thousand of them in the city. Only about 1 in every 10 shops isn't selling clothes. We spend most of the day walking around trying to find a good store because my friends were getting a couple suits. I decided that I spent too much money in northern Vietnam so I wasn't going to spend any money on clothes. Plus I didnt need a suit so I just got a wool coat. One of the places that is the cheapest is the cloth market. A huge building filled with shelves of fabric for them to make anything you would like.
It rained a lot so the river was so high the first couple streets near it were flooded some places up to waist high.
I bought a onesie, its great for bus trips.
The buildings are kind of like Luang Prabang, very old school and lots of greenery planted.
Un-picture related: Like the title says everything in Hoi An is outsourced. There are only about 5 tailors in the whole city. 3-4 of the biggest stores have their own tailors and all of the other ones use the same tailor somewhere just outside of town.
One night when we were sitting in a restaurant I ordered a pizza. 20 min later a guy hopped off his motorbike with a thermal bag and walked into the back of the kitchen. 30 seconds later the waitress came out with my pizza! I asked her where she got the pizza from and she said "they make downstairs( points in an upward direction) " and then got really flustered and ran off.
Who knows what else was outsourced.
